Description
My name is Melanie Green, and I am an experienced female carer with 4 years’ worth of experience behind me.
I have worked in different care roles from the community, to care homes to private care. I have mostly worked in complex care and have worked with challenging behaviour, Brain injury and spinal injury, but have also worked in the community to support care needs such as personal care, dressing, cooking etc.
I have used many types of equipment for moving and handling, such as hoists, slide sheets, transfer aids, lifting slings and wheelchairs.
I have various training certificates including the care certificate and I am currently completing my Level 3 Diploma in adult care. I am also studying the Access to HE diploma in Adult Nursing, and hope upon completion to go to university to complete my nursing degree.
Before I worked in care I worked as a pharmacy dispenser for 15 years, but decided I wanted to work in care when my own mother become sick. The carers that supported me during this difficult time gave me the motivation to pursue a different career and I hoped I could share the compassion, care, and kindness that they had showed me to other people in need.
Although I am currently employed by a young lady with complex care needs, my shifts are variable, and I have plenty of spare days and nights during the week. During my time off I enjoy socialising with friends, writing and drawing. I also play the piano, though unfortunately have not had a proper piano in years and am currently using a keyboard.
I love animals, and I have two pet cats that keep me on my toes!
Although it may sound cliché, people who know me will say that I have a kind heart and will do always show compassion, care and dedication in any role given to me. I enjoy spending times with clients and chatting to them about anything they want. I always treat clients how I would want my own family members treated and this builds trust and a good relationship being clients.
